5 Acts to Catch at Green Man 2022

Nestled in the bosom of the glorious Brecon Beacons, Green Man has become a tour de force in recent years; boasting lineups that showcase the best in established and emerging artists.

This year’s lineup is headed by the likes of festival mainstays Metronomy, electronic pioneers Kraftwerk, lofty Baltimore dream-poppers Beach House and one of the UK’s most consistent songwriters, Michael Kiwanuka. Elsewhere on the poster, there are gems to be found throughout: from cult heroes to up-and-comers, with some phenomenal Welsh talent thrown in for measure.

With 2022’s sold out event taking place this weekend, here are our picks of five artists not to be missed.

Yves Tumor
Mountain Stage // Thursday

Gracing the Mountain Stage on what has become a stellar Thursday lineup, multi-hyphenated performer Yves Tumor will bring tracks from their critically acclaimed 2020 album Heaven To a Tortured Mind to the Beacons before bolting to London to support Gorillaz.

Ezra Furman
Mountain Stage // Sunday

Ezra has rarely left fifth gear throughout a career that has gone form strength to strength. Recent singles ‘Lilac and Black’ and ‘Poor Girl A Long Way From Heaven’ have seen a more tender delivery, whilst packing the same punch. You may recognise Ezra’s brand of songwriting from the Sex Education‘s original soundtrack, which she wrote.

Charlotte Adigery & Bolis Pupul
Walled Garden // Sunday

Soulwax-approved Charlotte Adigery refuses to shy away from the big subjects, bringing them to the dancefloor and pairing them to an irresistible bassline. Alongside musical partner Bolis Pupul, this is going to be a masterclass in dark disco that has everything.

Scalping
Walled Garden // Friday

Rumoured to be performing shortly after Friday’s headliner, Scalping’s set has the potential to be chaotically glitchy, mesmerising and – at times – frightening. What better way to see in the weekend?

Brian Destiny
Far Out // Friday

Brian Destiny is the dancefloor-friendly outlet for Fat White Family member Nathan Saoudi. With his campaign for debut EP – Brian’s Got Talent – shrouded in mystery, we can’t wait to finally catch a Brian Destiny live show.
