Arcade Fire have shared a brand new track, ‘Generation A’, during a live performance on election night.
The band joined Steven Colbert for his election night special, and debuted their new track in the process. Inspired by “the current climate of the country with a hopeful message to the youth”, the track’s lyrics focus on the need for young people to be impatient in their efforts to change the political and social landscape, to refuse to “wait a little longer”.
The track has a rousing, persistent, marching-style drum beat, and the video features a child in mini cowboy gear.
Arcade Fire are working on their next album, while Will Butler released his sophomore studio album earlier this year.
