Brijs unveils new banger ‘Velvet Ditch’

Having dropped the title track and lead single to his upcoming debut album ealier this year, Hugo Brijs is continuing to make a name for himself under the Brijs moniker by unveiling his latest offering: ‘Velvet Ditch’.

A meandering guitar line and uproarious chorus provide the interludes between the propulsive, driving verses, on which Brijs laments how easy it is for each of us to fall into our own “velvet ditch”.

Speaking about the track, Brijs explains: “‘Velvet Ditch’ is about recognising the moment when you become so comfortable you stop moving. A safe job, a stale relationship, living rent free at your parents’ home – the point is it takes a different shape depending on the person.” For those of us who are stuck in the velvet ditch, Brijs has a rousing piece of advice: “Get out before it eats you whole”.

‘Velvet Ditch’ is available now to stream and purchase.
