The past few years have seen Adam French slowly edge his way into the musical zeitgeist. Having started off in several bands that lacked French’s sense of ambition, the Cheshire native has spun an intricate career for himself. With his single ‘Shiver’ having been picked up by a local radio station, the musical persona of French was born.
French’s latest work, Weightless, returns as a chilling reminder of his unbridled raw talent. Kicking off with the atmospheric title track, ‘Weightless’ the album quickly ebbs its way into the slightly faster paced ‘My Addiction’. A piano-driven four-minute track, delivering a crashing crescendo as it finally fades into ‘The Rat’.
Once again returning to a slower, calmer, guitar and string infused ballad, faintly reminiscent of Half Moon Run’s second album. The short, yet sweet, EP ends with ‘Skin Deep’. Starting off with a calm, slow-moving, guitar riff, the song grows into a thundering finale.
At only sixteen minutes long French’s Weightless EP is a brief, yet, utterly brilliant reminder of the up and coming songwriters ability. With a debut album already recorded there is no doubt that we’ll be hearing more from French soon, but for now, we’ll have to make to with Weightless.
Adam French’s Weightless EP is available to stream, download and purchase now. French will also embark on two UK shows next February, on sale Friday 10th November.
