Embarking on his first proper UK tour in support of new album ‘This Old Dog’, Mac DeMarco is a force to be reckoned with. Rarely is it that a singer can bring about a cultural shift, though it appears DeMarco’s own brand of “jizz jazz”, his fashion choices, and his ethos have infiltrated a section of youth culture – and he’s here to stay.
‘This Old Dog’ is Mac DeMarco’s latest studio LP, and offers a mellowed out sound similar to his mini album ‘Another One’, which was released in 2015. The album was met with astounding confidence, and received high ratings from music magazines including MOJO, Q, and the NME.
In a live setting, DeMarco takes on a new persona, and starkly contrasts with the soft rock of his studio recordings. Previously described as a “tropical lounge lizard unleashing his inner beast” by The Guardian, DeMarco’s live set-up is surrounded by a lot of worthy hype.
