RIOT’s Release Radar #002

In the same week that storm Ciara smashes through the North of England, Parasite has smashed through the Oscars, picking up four gongs. This may sound impressive; but with Cats omitted from the nominees for Best Picture and James Cordon cruelly overlooked for Best Supporting Actor/Scariest Man in Cat Costume, can we really trust the Academy’s opinion at all?

Christine & The Queens – People, I’ve Been Sad

Dropping her first solo track since the release of Chris, Christine and The Queens returned with the hard-hitting ‘People, I’ve Been Sad’. Wearing her heart on her sleeve, the new track is an emotional standalone birthed during the same era as her sophomore album. Dropping it alongside a special session filmed at Colours studios in Berlin, it’s safe to say that this track has blown us away once again. PG

Carly Rae Jepsen – Let’s Be Friends

Just before hitting the UK for a pair of shows this weekend, Carly Rae Jepsen gifted us with what could quite possibly be the best Valentine’s ‘Fuck You’ track. The ode to shit dates features the brilliant line “I mean, you’re sort of a dick sometimes but someone out there is surely gonna love a dick. Uh, check please?”, and we simply cannot wait to see the lipsyncs this will spawn. PG

Jimothy Lacoste – Getting To Fly In The Sky
