RIOT Release Radar #008

Let’s see, what’s been going on in the news this week. Nope, can’t think of any stories that have particularly stolen the headlines. I guess we all just lay low and look forward to the summer’s festivals, Glastonbury anyone?… Oh wait, they are all called off.

At least the music world is sending us audio sustenance, with some exciting offerings in both singles and albums.

Keep washing your hands and stay safe x

Låpsley // Speaking of the End

Four years after her huge debut, Long Way Home, Låpsley returns with Through Water. With Holly Fletcher’s penchant for vulnerable and delicate songwriting, you can consider her new LP an official RIOT recommendation.

Hayley Williams // Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris

Giving us all of a 30-minute warning, Hayley Williams dropped her latest track ‘Roses/Lotus/Violet/Iris’. The five-minute track sees licks of the same underlying anger that ‘Simmer’ featured, this time pointed at growth, while laying on a bed of bluesy riffs and softly spoken lyrics. PG

Love Fame Tragedy // Multiply

Murph has released a collection of his recent tunes to see you through your isolation. The aptly named Five Songs to fill the Void is the second solo EP from The Wombats’ frontman. MG

Shura // Elevator Girl

Back with ’Elevator Girl’, her first track since her sophomore album forevher, Shura has once again hit the ground running with the low-fi banger. Enlisting the help of Philadelphia rapper Ivy Sole, Elevator Girl tells the tale of an awkward encounter with an almost complete stranger in a lift. PG

Thundercat // Fair Chance (feat. Ty Dolla $ign & Lil B)

One of the coolest men in music, Thundercat, pays tribute to Mac Miller in new track ‘Fair Chance’. He expands: “This song is about Mac… when he passed it shook the ground for the artist community.” MG

Perfume Genius // On The Floor

Perfume Genius is back on the campaign trail, with new album Set My Heart On Fire Immediately scheduled for 15th May. ‘On The Floor’ is a more-led track than other recent single ‘Describe’. MG
