RIOT Release Radar: #085

a Ri-ku:
massive rap concert
apparently some sports too
In California

Nilüfer Yanya // anotherlife
We caught Nilüfer playing at The Social in central London earlier this week, and excitement levels for new album PAINLESS are at an all time high. ‘anotherlife’ shows the South London songwriter at her pensive yet melodic best.

Chubby and the Gang // Who Loves Ya?
What could be more romantic than four punks from West London playing pool?? Chubby and the Gang have released a three track Valentines EP entitled Labour of Love, which sees their regular chair-throwing, pit-ready rock infused with a wee sprinkle of tenderness.

Hatchie // Giving The World Away
Shades of Piano House and wavy Dreampop come together to make this one of Hatchie’s best tunes yet. ‘Giving The World Away’ also happens to be the name of the Aussie’s forthcoming album, arriving in April via Secretly Canadian.

TV Priest // One Easy Thing
Sub Pop’s TV Priest have switched things up a little. Charlie Drinkwater’s vulnerable side comes to the fore in ‘One Easy Thing’, with a voice that lends itself as capably to emotive ballads as it does to hook-heavy punk, who can blame them. Chain mail chic is in for 2022 – you heard it here first.

Next up on the list of our favourite chain mail-clad artists..

Tomberlin // happy accident
After picking up a wealth of press acclaim in the US for 2020’s Projections EP, Sarah Beth Tomberlin will bring her show to Europe later this year. Tomberlin’s voice glides weightlessly over spacious guitar-work on ‘happy accident’.

Opus Kink //  I Love you, Baby
Opus Kink have shared this swashbuckling banger hot off of the back of signing with Nice Swan Records. Having also recently sold the prestigious 100 Club, it appears that everything is coming up Kink.

All Things Blue // Grog Log
Listen to the oscillating synths in ‘Grog Log’ and try not to fall in love with this tune. The LA duo have a stateside tour arranged for this year, but we are willing to sign a petition to get them over to Europe – if somebody else carries out the admin.
