RIOT Release Radar: #100

a RI-ku:
since we’ve been away
one liz came, another left.
both events bore us

Blood Orange // Wish
Dev Hynes always manages to come back sounding fresher than ever, and his new Blood Orange EP, Four Songs, is no exception. These new tracks fire the starting pistol on Dev’s relationship with new label, RCA.

Flowerovlove // I Gotta I Gotta
Flowerovlove continues her hot streak, making catchy, danceable pop using just the bare minimum components. ‘I Gotta I Gotta’ is a breezy new cut about searching for where you want to go in life and getting there quickly, even if you don’t know where that is.

Fred Again // Danielle (smile on my face)
Fred Again drops ‘Danielle (smile on my face)’ as the world rejoices that his next album Actual Life 3 (January 1-September 9 2022) will be arriving on 28th October. This euphoric new cut repurposes an acapella sample of 070 Shake’s ‘Nice To Have‘.

Glows // Postpunk
The knowingly-titled ‘Postpunk’ arrives alongside Glows’ debut mixtape, which dropped this week. LA, 1620 incorporates years of voicenotes & demos made by GG skips & Felix BH, mutating them into a dreamy maze of a mixtape to get lost in.

Metz // Come On Down (feat. Joe Talbot)
Legends joining legends; Metz are bolstered by IDLES’ Joe Talbot for this raging monster of a track. The two punk entities put their heads together for a collab whilst live music lay dormant in lockdown.

The Umlauts // Sweat
After a summer of collecting new fans at festivals across the UK, The Umlauts will be dropping a fresh EP, Another Fact, on October 14th. The trans-European quartet intertwine electronic traits with a poised breed of punk songwriting.

Rubblebucket // Cherry Blossom
A stunningly unassuming slice of indie-pop joy. Kalmia Traver & Alex Toth will be dropping their new album Earth Worship on 21st October.
