RIOT Release Radar: #108

Bar Italia // Nurse!
The elusive Bar Italia have been attracting attention from those in the know for a few years now, and ‘Nurse!’ may be the one that catapults them into mainstream consciousness. All of the components are there for this to be a very special band indeed.

Róisín Murphy & DJ Koze // CooCool
The queen of modern disco has reunited with DJ Koze on the charmingly unassuming toe-tapper ‘CooCool’. Róisín Murphy was one of the best acts we caught last year and her knack for moving the conversation forward whilst nodding to dancefloor heritage know no bounds.

Petite Noir // Finding Paradise
Petite Noir will be dropping new album MotherFather on April 14th, their first full length since 2015’s La Vie Est Belle/Life is Beautiful. The rich harmonies, buoyant African-inspired percussion and pinch of punk energy found on ‘Finding Paradises’ is well and truly whetting our appetites for the new LP.

Nation of Language // Sole Obsession
Brooklyn trio Nation of Language pair feather-light shimmering synths with an escapist, melancholic delivery on ‘Sole Obsession’. Check out the companion video for ‘Sole Obsession’ below – shot on 35mm, no less.

Protomartyr // Make Way
Recorded in the shadow of Texas’ breathtaking Sonoran rock formations, ‘Make Way’ is a deliciously sulky return for the Detroit post-punks Protomartyr. One of the must-see acts at this year’s SXSW.

Saloon Dion // Happiness
This new tune from Saloon Dion is going to absolutely pop on the live circuit. Debut EP Muckers arrives in May.

Legss // The Landlord
Legss are fast becoming a cult favourite in the making. Quiet, cerebral monologue fights it out with unhinged periods of release on their long-awaited new number ‘The Landlord’.
