So it’s the lockdown weekend we have all dreaded; Glastonbury.
BBC is doing its very best to ‘bring Glastonbury to your home’ through their series of streams, but it just isn’t the same. Until next year, we shall have to make do with earphones on the balcony, flooding our own lounge and dropping a pinger in the nearest car park.. and a look at this week’s release radar.
And, and if you are feeling nostalgic, check out our list of game-changing Glastonbury sets from yesteryear.
Lynks Afrikka // How to Be Successful
We caught a Lynks Afrikka show before lockdown and the experience is a must-see Gen-Z cabaret. ‘How to Be Successful’ rings true with a whole generation of 21st century graduates. MG
Camelphat, Yannis, Foals // Hypercolour
Ever wondered what Yannis from Foals was doing with his lockdown? Well, we have our answer in the form of ‘Hypercolour’, his latest track written alongside the Liverpudlian duo Camelphat. PG
Silverbacks // Up The Nurses
Debut album Fad is out July 17th and pays homage to almost every touchstone in Indie-rock and Punk – set your reminders now and begin the countdown. MG
Sofia Wolfson // Billboard
With her dreamy setup exploring, well, bad dreams, Sodia Wolfson’s Billboard is a stunning little track. We caught up with her earlier this week to talk through the song’s inspirations. PG
Gengahr // LOVE.
Gengahr are accumulating a strong repertoire of tracks, and this Kendrick Lamar cover fits in nicely – especially as we won’t be hearing the original on the Pyramid Stage this weekend. MG
Holly Humberstone // Overkill
Filled with subtle hooks and emotion, Holly Humberstone’s latest track ‘Overkill’ carries on her perfect string of singles. Part of an EP scheduled for next year, the track is accompanied by a Blair Witch Project-esque video (without, y’know, the nightmares). PG
Tugboat Captain // No Plans (For This Year)
Talk about an aptly named song. Tugboat have announced their forthcoming album Rut, following a year in which they were due to perform at SXSW. Check out the band’s back catalogue – as well as our feature with frontman, Sox.
Remi Wolf // Hello Hello Hello
Back with a new track, and weirdly wonderful video to boot – Remi Wolf has once again captured our ears with ‘Hello Hello Hello’, the final track off her debut EP I’m Allergic To Dogs, out now. PG
