In what has proved to be a tough year for festival-goers and music-lovers the world over, Sarpa Salpa have restored some of that lost summer feeling by dropping their latest single ‘Stick To What You Know’.
The track’s synths (newly added to the roster in August last year) are high-flying, while the infectious hook and the band’s obvious knack for groovy guitars combine perfectly. The track is heavy on the disco and noughties indie-pop influences, and serves as an uplifting rallying cry against sticking to the conventional.
As frontman Marcus Marooth explains: “It’s about finding something that you love and pursing it with everything you’ve got. There is a lot of pressure in society to find a job, settle down then rinse and repeat. This track is about not settling for that 9-5 job you hate for the rest of your life. Something that’s proved more than testing for everyone in 2020“.
With upcoming tour dates scheduled, Sarpa Salpa are doing their best to lift spirits, and it’s working.
