Single Review: (No One Knows Me) Like the Piano // Sampha

Following on from the previously released singles Timmy’s Prayer and Blood on Me, – which proved tantalising tasters from his upcoming debut album, ProcessSampha has once again struck melodic gold with his latest effort.

(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano is a beautifully composed ode to the empowering and omniscient nature of music itself, with the Young Turks artist specifically doting the piano residing in his mother’s South London home. With tranquil and soothing piano keys fluttering effortlessly around lullaby-esque vocals, Sampha masterfully transports the listener to a moment of serene nostalgia.

When the track was released, Sampha dedicated it to his mother, with the lines “An angel by her side, all the times I knew we couldn’t cope…And you took hold of me and never, never, never let me go” seemingly a testament to the shielding nature of their mahogany guardian.

A few months ago Sampha was a relative unknown to most, but come the 3rd February and Process, the world may just want to know a whole lot more about him.
