Swedish-native and LA resident, Snoh Aalegra, has released the second single from her upcoming project ‘Feels’. Enchanting from the get go, Nothing Burns Like The Cold is lavish, and has left us longing for more …
Right off the bat, Nothing Burns Like The Cold is smooth; incorporating steady hip-hop drum tracks and sampling Isaac Haye’s sultry track Ike’s Rap 2, Snoh Aalegra delivers an idyllic single. With record scratches snipping in and out the track, and labelmate Vince Staples chiming in with some slow and mellow bars, Nothing Burns Like The Cold is a deep cut into the breadth of Snoh Aalegra’s musicianship.
Vocally rich, Aalegra slides in rather perfectly over the top of the sampled track, weaving in smoky, jazz-influenced vocals providing a sense of serenity. As the backing track loops and reloads at set intervals, Snoh Aalegra‘s gentle overlay negotiates her position as one of the most captivating singers on the R&B scene as it ties all the pieces of the track together.

It does not sample Glorybox by Portishead, it samples Isaac Hayes – Ikes Rap II. Portishead used the same sample
