New York indie-rock dreamboats Beach Fossils are to release their first album in over 3 years in June, entitled ‘Somersault’. Coupled with the announcement of a brand new album from the dreamy quartet, new track, This Year, has been released into the grasp of eager fans.
This Year does not digress from the classicised Beach Fossils template of lo-fi, summery tunes, as it begins solemnly with distant, relaxed acoustic guitars, and reverb-tinted guitar licks. With orchestral jaunts that enable an air of nostalgia and euphoria, This Year is an introverted piece laden in Dustin Payseur’s monotonously suitable vocals, and really only leaves you wanting to walk along a beach with the wind in your hair …
Taking a step away from the caustic style on their most previous effort ‘Clash The Truth’, the release of This Year, and its standardised warm sound may leave Beach Fossils delving into their earlier form. Basically, we can’t wait to hear what the rest of ‘Somersault’ has to offer!
