Northampton’s finest has teamed up with the New York superstar on his latest release, having leaked a teaser of the track towards the end of 2020.
This new single sees the artist, born Tyron Frampton, leaning more heavily into his rap influences. MAZZA’s lyrical content is more reflective and confessional than Slowthai’s more irreverent past releases, with lines including “I never felt love before the drugs”.
MAZZA is the latest cut from Slowthai’s forthcoming album, TYRON, following the rapper’s critically acclaimed debut Nothing Great About Britain; which received a Mercury nomination in 2019.
Slowthai announced his sophomore album alongside a message to fans:
“Thank you to all of you who have and continue to support me and my music up until now.
This album was created during a difficult time in my life, I am far from perfect but I’ve learnt a lot about myself whilst creating this album and I will continue to grow into a better person for myself and aim to be a reflection of what I want to see in this world.
I hope this album can be the light if you are in the dark, and to know you’re not alone. It’s ok to be yourself, fuck everything else. Learn, grow, aim to be better than you were yesterday.
Tyron will be out FEBRUARY 5th 2021
Love, Tyron”
