Taking to the airwaves this morning, Lauren Laverne has announced the shortlist of names for 2020’s Mercury Prize.
The twelve nominees, all hailing from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, include Dua Lipa, Stormzy, Laura Marling, Michael Kiwanuka, Sports Team and Charli XCX.

Anna Meredith – Fibs
Michael Kiwanuka – Kiwanuka
Last year’s Mercury Prize saw Dave take home the final prize, after having been nominated alongside Foals, Idles, SEED Ensemble, Little Smiz, Anna Calvi, slowthai, Cate Le Bon, Nao, Black Midi, The 1975 and Fontaines D.C.
This year’s Mercury Prize awards show will take place on 10th September, with as always BBC Music providing live television and radio coverage of the event.
