Four years after the release of their second album, All Your Happy Life, The Wytches have returned with their new single ‘Cowboy’.
Back, “feeling re-energised and rejuvenated”, ‘Cowboy’ sees the band return after coming close to burn out following the departure of their drummer. Frontman Kristian Bell explains, “We were disheartened by the whole thing. All the work that goes into getting a band off its feet and into the public felt like something we’d have to try all over again.”
Now regrouped and recording as a three-piece (Kristian Bell, bassist Dan Rumsey and guitarist Mark Breed), ‘Cowboy’ is the first single to be heard by the band since their departure. Talking about the song Kristian says, “It’s a song about attempting to return to a better state of mind. ‘Cowboy’ was a holding place title as it seemed like a riff that a cowboy would enjoy. It had 4 or 5 different verses and structures before the final recorded version and by then the name had stuck.”
