Taking to Instagram live this evening, The xx’s Romy Madley Croft has announced that she will be releasing a solo album soon.
Talking on the stream Romy unveiled that “for the past couple of years I’ve been writing a lot of songs for other people, writing a lot of songs for myself, and I ended up with all these songs. So I’m going to be releasing a solo album, under my own name, Romy”
Going on to premiere ‘Weightless’, Romy also added “with my new music I’m excited to make it a lot more upbeat, although I’m playing it on a guitar it’s not going to be guitar music, it’s going to be a lot more fun. Not that guitar music isn’t fun.”
You can catch the full stream, including ‘Weightless’ over on Romy’s Instagram until 18:00 (UK time) tomorrow, 20th April.
Playing through a series of The xx tracks, covers and brand new tracks, Romy also spilled details that the band are indeed working on new music, although there isn’t a release date for that yet.
Not giving any time frame on when her album will come out, Romy also covered Dua Lipa’s ‘Electricity’, and Rui Da Silva’s ‘Touch Me’.
