The former frontman of Tom Williams and The Boat has unveiled his latest project. Penned on a shoestring budget, and composed in practice rooms across the UK this album comes as a new way of thinking for the veteran musician.
Released on May 26th via Caroline International, All Change, a ten-track collection of songs will be accompanied by a string of intimate shows played by Tom and a backing band formed by first-year music tech students.
Having cast away a musical career for good and taken up a job teaching Tom Williams had no plans to make another album. Yet with no pressure, expectation or inclination to write new music his students lead him to a new way of looking at the writing process. Talking about the track ‘Get High’ Williams detailed how his students inspired him to start writing again:
“I was teaching at a secondary school and a pupil from a songwriting workshop I ran came to me asking for a couple of new chord sequence ideas. I came up with one on the spot and told her to go next door and try and write something in the next hour. I then ended up writing my own version of the song”.
